Torna l'angolo de "Le recensioni di Everland"! Stavolta mi occupo dell'ultimo, attesissimo, lavoro dei System Of A Down. S'intitola Mezmerize ed è composto da 11 pezzi (durata complessiva: 36'06").
Cd spiazzante, per certi versi: chi si aspettava un certo tipo di approccio, dopo l'ascolto del singolo B.Y.O.B. o di Cigaro, trapelato per primo tra le larghe trame della rete, è rimasto sicuramente un pò stranito. C'è spazio per la sperimentazione, per basi più melodiche, ma c'è anche spazio per la solita schiettezza della premiata ditta Serj-Daron (quest'ultimo trova molto più spazio, a livello vocale, rispetto ai precedenti lavori). Toxicity rimane inarrivabile, al momento, ma il risultato è sicuramente apprezzabile.
1. Soldier Side - Intro (voto: s.v.) - un breve prologo, con alcuni messaggi: People all grow up to die
2. B.Y.O.B. (8 ) - acronimo di Bring Your Own Bombs, è un pezzo contro la gestione delle truppe da parte del governo americano. Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor?: devastante
3. Revenga (6) - altro esperimento, voto di stima: I saw her laugh then she said: "Go away"
4. Cigaro (8 ) - non può che avere un voto alto una canzone che inizia con le frasi My cock is much bigger than yours. My cock can walk right through the door: ecco i "vecchi" SOAD!
5. Radio/Video (5.5) - a parte un passaggio di follia pura, canzone stranissima con un guazzabuglio di sensazioni etniche diverse: They take me away from the stranges places. Sweet Danny and Lisa
6. This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song (7) - il titolo dice tutto: Killers never hurt feelings. Gonorrhea, gorgonzola
